| Dear Accident Victim, |
| |
| Keep reading this urgent health bulletin. It may be the
most important thing you read this year! Why? Because
what's about to be revealed can save you from years of pain,
suffering, even arthritis. |
| |
| If you have recently been involved in an auto accident, chances
are you have felt a little soreness, or maybe you have been in great
pain. If you went to your family doctor, or even the emergency
room, you were probably told something along the lines of "it is
probably just a sprain or strain, take these pills and come back in
several weeks if you are still in
pain...". |
|
If you are in pain, all of the
pills in the world will never get rid of a hidden
injury! |
The truth about pain relievers is that they never go after
the REAL cause of your pain. They work by disabling your
body's ability to perceive pain, just like plugging your nose keeps
you from smelling something foul. As soon as you take your
hand away from your nose, the smell is still there! |
| |
| What makes these hidden injuries more dangerous is they often
start small and slowly progress to the point where you may feel
disabled. The small throbbing pain you feel today can come
back with a vengeance a month, year, or even 10 years down the
road! |

Injuries: |
It is estimated that there is about 3 million whiplash
injuries per year in the USA, this according to Dr. Arthur Croft of
the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. Couple this with several
outcome studies that show that 12% to 86% of whiplash victims will
still have pain years after their crashes, points out the epidemic
nature of whiplash. |
| |
| What is
Whiplash? |
The term whiplash was used historically to describe the
movement of the neck during the injury phase of a crash. More
recent research shows that the movement of the neck is more
complicated than the motion of whip. The important thing to
know is that the head and neck of the injured person is accelerated
3 to 5 times faster than the acceleration of the car. This
sudden change in speed (about 1/10 of a second) produces the damage
to the structures (muscles, nerves, ligaments, etc.) and causes neck
pain and other problems. |

| Whiplash
Symptoms: |
When people think of whiplash they think of neck pain.
There are several other symptoms that accompany neck pain.
However, there may be headaches, jaw pain, shoulder pain, arm
pain, hand pain, numbness and tingling, as well as brain injuries.
Brain injuries may show up as memory loss, irritability,
insomnia, depression, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), concentration
problems, etc. Patients may also have pain in other parts of
their bodies other than neck pain. Lower back pain is also
common in car crashes, as are leg injuries from hitting the dash
board or other structures in the car. |

Treatment: |
I have an obvious bias that chiropractic care is by far the
best treatment for whiplash injuries, hands down. This is also
backed up though by a group of orthopedic surgeons from England.
In a study done by Gargan, Bannister, et al, they reported in
the British Journal of Orthopedic Medicine that chiropractic care
for chronic whiplash patients was superior to medical, acupuncture
and physical therapy treatments. Patients reported higher
satisfaction with chiropractic care 2 to
1. |
